

The Swiss Ice Hockey Awards were held recently with a pair of women taking home honors.
Leading the way was Andrea Brändli who was named Switzerland's Woman of the Year. Brändli backstopped Boston University this season recording a 2.41 GAA and .928 save percentage in 25 games during her senior season. She also played a crucial role for Switzerland at the IIHF World Championship starting five games. Following the completion of her season, which also marked the end to Brändli's NCAA career, the netminder signed a professional contract with MoDo in the SDHL.
Also receiving recognition in the Swiss Ice Hockey Awards was Maija Otama who was named the SWHL's MVP. The SWHL is Switzerland's top women's hockey league, and Otama was in her first season in the league after playing the entirety of her career in her native Finland. In her first season in the league, Otama topped all players in goals and points with 26 goals and 53 points in 24 games playing for EV Bomo Thun. She'll play for SC Bern next season.
