Caitlin Kraemer scored her 13th and 14th career goals at the IIHF U-18 World Championships for Canada, passing Marie-Philip Poulin's mark of 13 as Canada's all-time leading goal scorer at the tournament.
It's always special to break a record. When the record holder is Marie-Philip Poulin, it takes new meaning. That's the situation for Team Canada's Caitlin Kraemer who today broke Marie-Philip Poulin's all-time goal scoring record by a Canadian at the U-18 World Championships.
Kraemer notched her 11th and 12th games in the 2024 opener in Zug, Switzerland against Germany, and tied Poulin, then broke her record midway through the third period scoring her 14th career goal at the IIHF U-18 World Championships.
She managed the feat in only seven games while it took Poulin 10 games to hit 13.
In Canada's first game at the 2024 tournament, Kraemer passed Poulin at the U-18 level, including non-tournament games, but Sunday officially passed her mark in IIHF competition as well.
Kraemer, who plays for the Waterloo Ravens in the OWHL this season is headed to the NCAA with the University of Minnesota-Duluth next year.
Kraemer's record setting marker came at the 50:39 mark of Canada's 6-1 win over Czechia.
