Hockey Canada announced a new 23 player roster for the third and fourth games of the 2023-2024 Rivalry Series against the USA to be played in December.
"We are thrilled to announce the 23 players who will wear the Maple Leaf as we continue the Rivalry Series in Kitchener and Sarnia in December,” Gina Kingsbury said, national team general manager said.
“These two games provide our group with another opportunity to evaluate our pool of athletes and continue to build the pieces needed to have success at the World Championship in Utica in April. Every opportunity we have to come together is an opportunity to build, and we look forward to the competition and we are excited about playing in front of Canadian crowds in Ontario.”
Three players, Anne Cherkowski, Jennifer Gardiner, and Nicole Gosling are all set to make their senior national team debuts. They'll be joined at the Rivalry Series stops in Kitchener and Sarnia, Ontario.
Not returning from November's roster is goaltender Corinne Schroeder, who was replaced by the return of Ann-Renee Desbiens. On the blueline Jessica DiGirolamo and Erin Ambrose were replaced by Gosling.
Up front Danielle Serdachny and Loren Gabel draw in, who along with Gardiner and Cherkowski replace Sarah Fillie, Jessie Eldridge, and Jamie Lee Rattray.
Erin Ambrose remains out following an injury at the November Rivalry Series games. Micah Zandee-Hart also remains on the sideline for Canada. She is nursing an injury that could keep her out until February.
The December Rivalry Series stops will take place at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium on Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. and the Progressive Auto Sales Arena in Sarnia on Dec. 16 at 5 p.m. ET.
