Canada's U-18 national team opened their Summer Series against the United States with a 5-2 win in Richmond, British Columbia, with Adrianna Milani leading the way.
Adrianna Milani had two goals and an assist in Canada's 5-2 win over the United States in the opening game of the U-18 Summer Series.
After a scoreless first period, Canada got on the board first 3:07 into the second period. Savannah Halleran carried the puck down the right wing wall before saucering a pass cross ice to Madi Bryk who ripped home the opening goal.
Less than a minute later however, American captain Jane Daley carried the puck off the right side delaying and waiting for her chance from the slot before sliding it under Maija St Pierre.
In the final minute of the middle frame, Avery Jones scored dropping in from the blueline taking a pass from Maggie Hughson. Then 11 seconds later Tatiana Deblois got her first goal with the U-18 program off an Adrianna Milani pass after Milani won an offensive zone face-off to herself and found Deblois netfront.
Midway through the third, USA pulled back within one making the score 3-2 after a Margaret Chudzinski point shot was deflected beating St Pierre. Minutes later however, Milani scored on a penalty shot to regain Canada's two goal lead.
Canada went through penalty problems late, but played a tight checking, hard on the puck game where their forecheck reduced USA's time and opportunities.
