Emerance Maschmeyer was spectacular for Canada picking up a 27-save 3-0 shutout to tie the Rivalry Series a three games each.
After playing a scoreless forty minutes, Natalie Spooner broke the ice for Canada only 58 seconds into the third period. Driving to the net on the power play, Spooner took a pass from Marie-Philip Poulin and beat Aerin Frankel up high.
Passing the midway point of the third period, Emily Clark got on the board in front of her home province crowd in Regina, Saskatchewan. Clark had been snakebitten in this final leg with several high danger opportunities. Clark grabbed the puck in the neutral zone Saturday, drove wide around the American defence, before cutting to the net and beating Frankel.
Then, with only 4:25 remaining, Sarah Nurse put the game on ice taking a pass from behind the goal line from Emma Maltais and burying a one-timer.
The final game of the 2023-2024 Rivalry Series is scheduled for Sunday at 1pm CST at the Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
