Canada will host five IIHF women’s world events between 2026 and 2030 the IIHF has announced.

Canada will host five IIHF women’s events in the latter half of the decade, it was announced at the IIHF Semi-Annual Congress last week in Portugal.
Hockey Canada will host the Women’s World Championship during the next two Olympic years (2026, 2030) as well as Women’s U18 World Championship in 2026, 2028 and 2030.
“We want to have these tournaments at the same level in Canada, in Europe and elsewhere, and that’s exactly what we are trying to build together,” IIHF President Luc Tardif told IIHF.com.
The 2027 Women’s Worlds, which the IIHF previously awarded to Canada, will be re-allocated.
Also announced during the event were changes to the site of the 2024 Women’s World Championship, Division IA. Austria will host the event to be held April 21-27. China had committed to host the event in Shenzen for three years, but is no longer possible due its promotion to the top level. The IIHF revealed Egna, Italy will serve as the site for the 2024 Women’s U18 Division I tournament, Jan 6-12.
