There's been a lot of hype over Chloe Primerano. She's been called a "phenom" and her nickname is "prime time."

Tuesday she made history becoming the first defender ever to score a hat trick at the IIHF U-18 World Championships, recording the mark against Finland.

Primerano is in her first U-18 tournament, and will be eligible again next season. Through her first three games at the U-18 tournament, Primerano has five goals and nine points. In club hockey this season at RINK Academy, Primerano has 24 goals and 57 points in 15 games.

Few players in recent memory, including recent PWHL first overall pick Taylor Heise, project to be as impactful as Primerano. Comparing the two doesn't seem logical as Heise is a forward and Primerano a defender, but the statistics are closer than any other player. Heise, however, appeared in three IIHF World Championships recording 12 total points in 15 games. There's a chance Primerano will eclipse that mark from the blueline in her first year with nine points already.

Primerano's skating, including her edgework and heel to heel skating open the ice for her, but her vision and hands, coupled with a quick, powerful, and accurate release make her a threat from everywhere on the ice. Primerano not only joins the rush, she's often leading it and can activate from anywhere on the ice.

Fans watching the North Vancouver, British Columbia product are experiencing the future of women's hockey in Chloe Primerano, who is certain to join Canada's national team as a generational talent. ,mfe6d
