    Christina Julien

Canadian sports fans might have recognized a name if they were scanning through the various IIHF women's World Championship events this week.

It wasn't Marie-Philip Poulin, Natalie Spooner, or Brianne Jenner. It was former Canadian national soccer team member Christina Julien. Julien represented Canada at the 2012 FIFA World Cup and won gold at the 2011 Pan American Games with Canada.

More than a decade later however, Julien isn't playing soccer, and she isn't playing for Canada. Instead, she's a member of Australia's women's national ice hockey team playing in her first international competition at age 36.

Julien is competing at the IIHF Division 2B World Championships in New Zealand. In her first two games with Australia, Julien has scored in both games, facing Turkey and Hong Kong.

Julien plays in the AWIHL with the Melbourne Ice where she scored 12 goals and 24 points in 15 games to finish sixth in league scoring.

In Australia, Julien works for a sport science and analytics company called Catapult.
