For the second straight year, Colombia has captured the IIHF Women’s Development Cup. At the 2023 event, Colombia defended their title beating Argentina 6-2 in the gold medal game.

Lorena Pedraza scored less than 30 seconds into the game, followed by goals from a pair of goals each from Maria Uribe and Natalia Lugo, and a single from Christina Kampa.

Carolina Mendoza and Christina Kampa tied for the tournament lead in points leading Colombia with 11 points in five games. Kampa spent four seasons playing NCAA hockey at Bemidji State and was a 2021 draft pick of the NWHL's Minnesota Whitecaps.

In the bronze medal game, Iran defeated Ireland 3-1. Dina Farzamnia scored twice  while Elham Modirdehghan notched the other goal for Iran in the win.

For all the nation's involved, the IIHF Development Cup is an important event in the early stages of developing women's hockey programs in their countries.

“This event is very important for Argentina Ice Hockey because we can show our level,” said Argentinian coach Dickey Haiek. “This a great step for our girls’ national team to prepare for future tournaments."
