Now former Montreal Victoire defender Dominka Laskova will head to Sweden this season after signing a contract with SDE HF.
"Great that Dominika has chosen SDE next season," said SDE general manager Helene Åström in a translated news release. "She is probably one of the most meritorious new acquisitions in the SDHL this season, a player with an incredible sense of play and extensive experience from the absolute highest level in both the NCAA and PWHL and not least an anchor in the Czech national team, a team that is a medal candidate in every international championship. An extra plus with Dominika is that she can take a forward role if necessary."
After missing more than a year due to injury, Laskova returned to the PWHL last season in time to play five games with the Victoire and also represented Czechia at the World Championships. She was the 19th overall selection in the 2023 PWHL Draft.
Prior to the inaugural 2024 PWHL season, Laskova played 13 games in the SDHL with Lulea, and now returns for a second stint in the league.
Collegiately, Laskova, 28, spent four seasons at Merrimack before playing the 2022-23 season in the PHF with the Toronto Six where she helped Toronto win an Isobel Cup.
Internationally Laskova has won a pair of bronze medals with Czechia at the World Championships.
She joins fellow PWHL signings Emma Soderberg, Gabrielle David, and Sam Cogan with SDE HF this season.
