Former Metropolitan Riveters defender Minttu Tuominen has signed to return to her home nation with Naisten Liiga's Kiekko-Espoo.
Last season Tuominen served as an assistant captain for the Riveters scoring 14 points in 24 games, and also representing Team World at the PHF All-Star weekend. Now, Tuominen will return to her former club.
"Words cannot even describe what Espoo means to me," said Tuominen in a team news release. "In the ranks of Espoo, I have been able to grow as a player and as a person and learn from extremely successful players since the age of 16, as well as strive for the world from here, like so many others before and after me."
Tuominen represented Finland at four Olympic Games winning three bronze medals, and eight World Championships winning four bronze and a silver.
