Finland will play for a medal again at the World Championships. It came with more of a fight than they're used to in the quarterfinals beating Sweden 3-2.
Jenniina Nylund and Ronja Savolainen got Finland on the board early in the opening frame.
Only 50 seconds into the second period however, Sweden showed they would not roll over with Ebba Hedqvist getting her nation on the board.
Only five minutes later Josefin Bouveng tied the game at 2-2.
Passing the midway point of the game however, Susanna Tapani found a juicy rebound off an Elisa Holopainen shot and beat her Boston Fleet teammate Emma Soderberg to give Finland a 3-2 lead.
Both teams played a tight checking third period, with Finland holding on for the win.
Finland is likely to face Canada in the semi-finals.
Sweden will wait to see who they will face for a placement game in order to secure their spot for the 2026 World Championships.
