Finland has named their national team roster for the first step of Women's Euro Hockey Tour, including several returnees from their 2026 Olympic roster and more than a dozen players who will compete in the PWHL and NCAA in North America this year.
Finland has named their roster for the upcoming Swiss stop on the Women's Euro Hockey Tour.
The tour, which will make stops in Finland, Switzerland, Sweden, and Czechia, opens August 19 in Kloten as the top four European nations begin their preparations for the World Championships in November.
In net, Ottawa Charge goaltender Sanni Ahola and St. Cloud State's Emilia Kyrkkö will tend the crease.
Veteran Jenni Hiirikoski is back to anchor Finland's blueline, which will be without PWHL star Ronja Savolainen and veteran Sanni Rantala. Their blueline will include Nelli Laitinen, the 5th overall pick in the 2026 PWHL Draft, who will play for Hamilton this season, as well as Sini Karjalainen, who finished the season with the PWHL's Vancouver Goldeneyes last year.
Rounding out Finland's blueline will be Nella Berg (Luleå), Tuuli Tallinen (Minnesota-Duluth), Hannele Tarkiainen (St. Cloud), and Siiri Yrjölä (St. Cloud State).
Up front Michelle Karvinen, who recently signed with the Montreal Victoire, Elisa Holopainen, who was selected 19th overall by the New York Sirens in the 2026 PWHL Draft, and Emma Nuutinen who signed as a free agent with the Seattle Torrent this summer will all be absent.
But there will be a group of PWHL players heading to Kloten as members of Team Finland including first round PWHL Draft pick of the Montreal Victoire Petra Nieminen, Boston Fleet veteran Susanna Tapani, and 21st overall pick of the Minnesota Frost Viivi Vainikka.
Their roster will also include veterans Noora Tulus (Brynäs), Jenniina Nylund (Brynäs), Julia Liikala, and Sanni Vanhanen (Ohio State) who all represented Finland at the 2026 Olympics.
Filling out Finland's forward group at the event will be Emma Ekoluoma (Ilves), Emmi Juusela (SDE), Sofia Nuutinen (Mercyhurst), Pauliina Salonen (Minnesota-Duluth), Julia Schalin (Minnesota), and Sofianna Sundelin (St. Cloud State).
