Frolunda won their first game in SDHL history, while five-time defending champs Lulea also opened with a win.

Frolunda made a triumphant debut in Sweden's top professional league for women, the SDHL this weekend, while five-time reigning champion Lulea also opened their season with a win.

Frolunda Wins OT Thriller In SDHL Debut

Emilia Vesa, a member of Finland's national team, played hero for Frolunda in their debut in Sweden's top league scoring 3:32 into overtime to list Frolunda to a 3-2 win. Sarah-Eve Coutu-Godbout and Hanna Olsson had the other Frolunda goals while Michelle Löwenhielm scored both for SDE in the losing effort.

Stephanie Neatby made 39 saves in the winning effort for Frolunda.

Lulea Begins Six-Peat Defence With Win

Ronja Savolainen scored a pair of goals for powerhouse Lulea as they opened their 2023-2024 SDHL season with a hard fought 3-2 win over MoDo.

MoDo got their offense from a pair of newcomers in Adela Sapovalivova, a key member of Czechia's national team, and Lauren Bellafontaine who is coming off a five-year standout career at Syracuse University where she captained the Orange last season scoring 28 points in 36 games.

Daniela Pejsova also scored for Lulea in the win.

Meixner Scores Twice For Brynas

Austrian star Anna Meixner scored both for Brynas who opened their season with a 2-0 win over Linkoping. Meixner is the reigning SDHL MVP, and Brynas has advanced to face Lulea in the championship series last year.

Amanda Johansson made 21 saves in the shutout win.
