Frölunda opened the 2026-27 SDHL season with a convincing win over Färjestad with veterans Michaela Pejzlova, Elisa Holopainen, and Emily Nix leading the way.
Frölunda's top line of Michaela Pejzlova, Elisa Holopainen, and Julia Liikala was difficult to stop on the opening day of the SDHL season, as they led Frölunda to a 5-2 win over Färjestad.
Pejzlova opened the scoring in the first period taking a pass from Holopainen. It was Pejzlova's first goal in the SDHL after spending multiple seasons playing in Switzerland and Finland. The Czech national team member was slated to play in Switzerland again this season until her team, Ambri-Piotta dropped out of PostFinance Women's League competition.
Frölunda continued to pour on the offense in the first period. Ohio State commit Ebba Westerlind scored her first of the season scoring from the point to make it 2-0. Before the end of the frame, Sofie Lundin fought off an opponent drawing a delayed penalty, but before the play could be blown, Lundin put a shot on goal, with German national team star Emily Nix waiting to put home the rebound.
On the power play in the second, Färjestad captain Jule Gough scored to cut Frölunda's lead to 3-1, but it wouldn't last.
Nix scored her second of the game, assisted by Lundin, followed by Pejzlova's second, with Holopainen and Paula Bergstrom adding assists. Emma Muren would score in the third for Färjestad, but they would get no further in a comeback attempt falling 5-2.Highl
