Germany is bringing 34 players together for their women's national team camp this summer to begin preparation for international play in August and the World Championships in November.
Germany's senior national team is set to meet from July 20 to July 23 to begin their roster building process ahead of international competition in August, and the World Championships in November.
Joining head coach Jeff MacLeod are new assistant coaches Tim Bernhardt and James Ty Morris. Bernhardt is the head coach of the DFEL's Mad Dogs Mannheim, while Morris coaches with Memmingen.
"We are looking forward to reuniting with our players and our entire team to begin preparations for the 2026 IIHF Women's World Championship in November," MacLeod said in a translated statement. "Our players have been working intensively during the summer break, so we are excited about this training camp, where a total of 34 athletes will have the opportunity to demonstrate their strengths and commitment. The squad consists of players from the 2026 Olympic roster, the U-18 national team, and players from the...DFEL who have recently impressed the coaching staff with their performances. We are planning an intensive training camp with high demands, both in terms of athletic and strength training, as well as on the ice. We will analyze the players in all areas and use this analysis to finalize the squad for the Four Nations Tournament in August."
Germany will host France, Hungary, and Norway at the August 17-23 tournament in Füssen.
Goaltenders will be headlined by Sandra Abstreiter, who although remains unsigned, will be back in the PWHL next season. She's joined by NCAA netminder Tara Bach, and goaltenders Lisa Hemmerle and Chiara Schultes.
Germany is bringing defenders Nina Jobst-Smith, who plays for PWHL Detroit, Emilija Birka, Ronja Hark, Daria Gleissner, Hanna Hoppe, Tara Schmitz, Tabea Botthof, Carina Strobel, Hanna Weichenhain, Aimee Georgi, Leonie Bottcher, Lena Spagert, and Martina Schrick.
Forwards include Boston Fleet veteran Laura Kluge, along with Alexandra Boico, Nina Christof, Isabell Manns, Aileena Dopheide, Nicola Hadraschek-Eisenschmid, Anna Rose, Svenja Voigt, Mathilda Heine, Charleen Poindl, Jule Schiefer, Marie-Kristin Schmid, Anabel Seyrer, Annika Stephainski, Lilli Welcke, Luisa Welcke, and Theresa Zielinski.
Key absences include Charlott Schaffrath, Anna Bartsch, Franziska Feldmeier, and Katharina Hackelsmiller who were all members of Germany's 2026 Olympic roster.
