Great Britain women's hockey captain Jodie Alderson-Smith discusses her nation continuing to advance in World Championship competition and the keys to their on-ice success.

Jodie Alderson-Smith and Great Britain's women's ice hockey team continue to take strides on the world stage.

In 2022, the team earned promotion winning gold at the Division IIA World Championships. Last year, they played for the first time at the Division IB level, a marked step up for many players on Great Britain's national team. Instead of suffering the fate of many nations however, and seeing her team drop immediately back to a lower level, Great Britain held on recording four points to stay in Division IB.

This year, they matched their point total in two games, and Great Britain looks poised to challenge for a top spot in Division IB.

The Hockey News' Ian Kennedy took time to chat with Great Britain captain Jodie Alderson-Smith on their day off at the IIHF Division IB World Championships in Riga, Latvia.
