Ann-Frédérique Guay scored her first SDHL goal on Wednesday evening, added an assist in win.
In a rematch of last Wednesday’s game, where HV71 triumphed in overtime, Linköping came out firing resulting in a 4-2 win.
Lova Blom opened the scoring when Linköping caught HV on a bad line change. Blom received a stretch pass from Emmy Alasalmi, crossed the blue line, and fired a hard shot top corner past HV keeper Viktorie Švejdová.
Later in the period, Linköping forward Ann-Frédérique Guay finally scored her first of the season, on a feed from Haruka Toko. The goal was Guay’s first in the SDHL, and could well be a harbinger of things to come — she is a proven scorer at both the NCAA D3 and D1 levels, and will add offensive depth to Linköping’s lineup if she can find her touch again.
Linköping scored two power play goals in the second period to head into the intermission up 4-0. HV71 attempted to mount a comeback in the third, and got goals from Emmi Rakkolainen and Tea Løkke Nyberg, but it was too little, too late. Linköping earned the win and three crucial points in the standings.
HV71 meets Djurgården on Friday, while Linköping is off until November 15 due to the international break.
