Jenniina Nylund, one of the top NCAA free agents, and a Finnish national team member, has signed to play professional hockey with Brynäs in the SDHL

Another top NCAA free agent has secured the next stage of her career as Finland's Jenniina Nylund signed a one-year contract with Brynäs in the SDHL.

Nylund recently completed her fifth season of NCAA hockey with St. Cloud State

"I have had five good years in college but I am fully ready for the next challenge in my career," Nylund said in a Brynäs press release. "Brynäs feels like the right place for me and there are opportunities here to be able to develop even more. I have received a very good and professional image of the association."

Nylund scored 28 points in 37 games for St. Cloud State this season serving as an assistant captain. She followed that up with a point per game performance at the IIHF women's World Championships notching seven points for Finland.

"Jenniina is a player of high calibre, she is a player of a good age in whom we see great development potential," said Erika Grahm, Brynäs' sporting director. "Jenniina is very smart in her game and is useful in both directions. A schooled center who will contribute a lot to the team. In addition, she is a curious, loyal and incredibly determined person. These are important characteristics for us when looking at potential new acquisitions."

Nylund, 23, has one bronze medal at the Olympics, and one at the World Championships representing Finland.
