University of Calgary women's hockey coach Josh Gosling has been named head coach of Canada's women's hockey team for the 2027 Winter Universiade in Changchun, China.
University of Calgary Dinos women's hockey head coach Josh Gosling has been named head coach for Team Canada at the 2027 Winter Universiade in Changchun, China.
Gosling is entering his fourth season as head coach for the University of Calgary after taking over from Carla MacLeod following the 2022-23 season. In his three seasons with Calgary, Gosling has led the program to a 44-56-0 record in Canada West.
Gosling will be joined by Queen's head coach Morgan McHaffie and Toronto Metropolitan assistant coach Celine Frappier who will serve as assistant coaches for Team Canada.
Both McHaffie and Frappier bring unique experience to Canada's bench, not only as current U SPORTS coaches, but as former members of Canada's Universaide rosters themselves with McHaffie winning gold in 2013 and silver in 2015, and Frappier winning gold as a member of Canada's dominant 2023 roster.
UPEI's Sean Fisher and Saskatchewan's Steve Kook will also be part of the staff.
The 2027 Winter Universiade in Changchun will take place from January 15-25, 2027.
