For the last time ever, Marie-Philip Poulin and Hilary Knight will meet for gold at the Olympic Games.
The pair are entering their fifth and final gold medal game against one another, leaving the Olympics sitting atop their respective nations all-time for goal scoring at the Olympics.
The pair first met at the 2009 World Championships. It was a teenage Poulin's senior national team debut, while Knight, who is two years Poulin's senior, had already twice before represented the United States at the World Championships. This year in 2026, Poulin, 34, and Knight, 36, both captains for their nations, are meeting for the last time ever at the Olympics.
It's 17 years of competing against each other for the future Hall of Famers. In that span, Poulin has won three Olympic gold medals, scoring the gold medal winning goal in 2010, 2014, and 2022. She also has four World Championship gold medals.
Knight owns 10 World Championship gold medals, and one Olympic gold medal in her career.
While neither is ending their playing career, Knight announced this season that 2026 would be her final Olympic Games. Poulin has yet to decide her status for the 2030 Olympics, where she would be 38. She has stated she is remaining focused on the current competition.
The duo were also two of the inaugural six captains at the PWHL level with Poulin captaining the Montreal Victoire, and Knight captaining the Boston Fleet, and currently the Seattle Torrent.
