Former PWHL blueliner Madison Bizal who spent last season in Montreal has signed for the remainder of the season in Sweden with SDE.

Bizal will rejoin her former Ohio State coach Peter Elander who took over as SDE's coach midseason.

"I had the privilege of coaching her in Ohio and she is a calm passer who always makes her back partner better," said Elander in a translated SDE news release. "It will be incredibly inspiring to once again have the opportunity to coach her."

Bizal, who won a national title with Ohio State, and U-18 World Championship gold with Team USA, was selected 43rd overall in the inaugural 2023 PWHL Draft by Montreal. She played 21 games for Montreal in the regular season recording two points, and appeared in all three of Montreal's playoff games. Bizal attended training camp with the New York Sirens this season before being released, and subsequently signing in the SDHL.

"I am looking forward to getting to know everyone in SDE, exploring Sweden and winning a championship with this team," Bizal said in SDE's news release. "I want to continue to develop as a player and as a person and know that this is a great place for me to be able to do that. I had Peter Elander as a coach for a year in college so being able to continue learning from him is something I'm looking forward to."

SDE currently sits sixth in the SDHL's 10-team loop. The team also features Malia Schneider, Lillain Perreault, and Dominique Kremer who were all with PWHL clubs last season as full time players or reserves. She'll join a strong SDE blueline that not only includes Kremer, but also features national team players such as Emma Bergesen (Norway), Lotti Odnoga (Hungary), and Kayleigh Hamers (Netherlands).
