Julia Gosling played in her first World Championship game for Team Canada, and made the most of it scoring for Canada in front of friends and family.
Julia Gosling has been with Team Canada before. She centralized with Canada leading up to the 2022 Olympics, and she's played Rivalry Series games. But Canada's first game at the 2024 IIHF World Championships in Utica, New York was different. It was Gosling's first ever game in an official tournament with Canada's senior national team.
The St. Lawrence University captain made the most of her debut as well scoring in Canada's 4-1 win over Finland to open the 2024 Worlds.
"It was super exciting," said Gosling. "I'm playing with some great linemates, and I feel like we've been rolling...to get a goal with them is super special."
With Finland pressing, the goal turned out to be an important one putting Canada up 3-1.
"I wasn’t even thinking about the score at the time, we were just rolling," said Gosling.
Gosling had her family in attendance, and her cousin, Nicole Gosling, was on the ice with her also making her senior national team debut with Canada at the Worlds.
