There's hot streaks, and then there's what Czechia's Michaela Pejzlova is doing to Finland's Naisten Liiga through the opening weeks of the 2023-2024 season.
Through her first five games of the season with HIFK, Pejzlova has a staggering 17 points. Last season, Pejzlova recorded the third highest single season total in Naisten Liiga history with 82 points in 31 games. This year, scoring at a 3.4 points per game rate, Pejzlova is on pace to become only the second player in league history to top the 100 point mark. The other was Hockey Hall of Fame inductee Riikka Sallinen in 1992-1993.
Over the weekend, Pejzlova helped HIFK stay undefeated beating TPS 9-0, a game in which Pejzlova recorded seven assists.
Pejzlova, 26, has two World Championship bronze medals with Czechia to her name, won a pair of NCAA titles playing for Clarkson in the NCAA, and helped HIFK win a Naisten Liiga title last year. In the Naisten Liiga playoffs last season Pejzlova poured in the offense recording 24 points in nine games.
When her contract expires this season, Pejzlova will undoubtedly become one of the most sought after players by PWHL teams looking to add offense heading into the league's second season.
At the 2023 World Championships, Pejzlova recorded three points in seven games for Czechia en route to a bronze medal.
