Team Canada's U-18 roster rode a pair of dominant performances from Adrianna Milani and Megan Mossey, who have been the nation's leaders in all three zones, to secure a summer series victory with one game remaining.
Canada's U-18 national team won their second straight, securing the U-18 Summer Series win over USA with a convincing 5-1 decision.
For Canada, it was all about their dominant power play, which was driven by the nation's top two U-18 prospects, Adrianna Milani and Megan Mossey.
The duo connected on three straight power play goals to open the game for Canada with Mossey scoring twice and Milani scoring once, with each assisting on the others' goals for three-point performances.
Watching the duo cycle the puck on the power play using their heel-to-heel skating to keep lanes open, and options available. The poise of both with the puck was clear, as were their ability to quickly read the ice and take shots when available. Both were deadly with their release and heavy shots for Canada.
Two of Canada's more impactful forwards on and off the puck in this series, Ryann Chimera and Madison Levesque also scored for Canada in the performance.
Mossey And Milani In A League Of Their Own
The ice on both sides has been filled with top prospects. USA's Jane Daley and Chyna Taylor, among others, are considered elite prospects at the level. But it's been Canada's top pair, their team defence and blueline support, that has held the fort for Canada.
Canada's defensive group headlined in this series by Mossey, Aurora Matt, Avery Jones, and Jordan Mulvihill has been dominant shutting down many USA rushes, and physically punishing USA's top players.
The blueline has been key to Canada's success, but Mossey and forward Adrianna Milani have been keys in all three zones.
Milani has not only been counted upon for Canada to lead the power play and provide Canada's offensive spark, but she's played a bigger role this season in the defensive zone as well. Canada's ability to activate their blueline continues to push USA back and no player has been more effective in that regard than Mossey.
The two teams will finish their series today.
