Pia Dukaric has faced more rubber than a six line highway this week at the Division IB World Championships in Riga, Latvia, where she's putting in a truly superhuman performance in net for Slovenia
Dukaric has a history of elite play, helping Slovenia earn promotion from the Division IIA tournament in 2019 after being named back-to-back Best Goaltender at the tournament. Last year, Dukaric was named the Best Goaltender at the Division IB tournament.
In the NCAA, Dukaric was the 2023 ECAC Goaltender of the Year playing for Yale, a Second Team All-American, and a Patty Kazmaier finalist.
At the World Championship Division IB tournament this year, she's been nothing but remarkable.
To open the tournament, Dukaric made 65 saves for Slovenia in a 4-1 win over Poland.
In her second game, facing Slovakia, who is looking to bounce back to Division IA after being relegated last year, Dukaric stopped 71 shots in a 4-0 loss. It's a .964 save percentage, and two of the goals Dukaric allowed came on the powerplay.
It's a superhuman performance for the Slovenian netminder, which her team will need if they hope to avoid relegation.
