On the opening day of the Finnish stop on the Women's Euro Hockey Tour, the PWHL presence was felt as Finland and Sweden picked up wins.

PWHL players made their presences felt at the opening day of the Women's Euro Hockey Tour's Finnish leg.

The hosts, Finland, opened their tournament with a 2-0 shutout win over Czechia. Ottawa Charge netminder Sanni Ahola made 21 saves in the win. After a scoreless opening frame, New York Sirens second round pick Elisa Holopainen scored the opener for Finland with Seattle Torrent defender Aneta Tejralova in the penalty box for Czechia. Montreal Victoire offseason signing Michelle Karvinen and Boston Fleet veteran Susanna Tapani assisted on the goal.

In the third period, Victoire first round pick Petra Nieminen added an insurance marker for the Finns with Karvinen picking up her second assist of the game on the goal.

Sweden handed the reigning Olympic bronze medalists from Switzerland a lopsided decision beating the Swiss 5-0. Swedish teen Tilde Grilffors had a game to remember as the 18-year-old Ohio State commit scored a hat trick. Rounding out the scoring for Sweden were Vancouver Goldeneyes forward Thea Johansson, and MoDo's Mira Hallin. New York Sirens blueliner Maja Nylen Persson had two helpers in the win.

Northeastern netminder Lisa Jonsson stopped all 15 shots she faced to record the shutout. At the other end of the ice, PWHL Detroit goalie Andrea Brändli made 35 saves in the loss.
