The United States has forced a fifth and deciding game in the Rivalry Series with a 2-1 shootout win over the Canadians.

Here are three takeaways from game four.

Watts Makes Case For Team Canada Spot

With only limited open spots on Canada’s roster for the upcoming World Championships in April, a good showing for Daryl Watts this week would go a long way to locking in her spot.

In Halifax, she came out on fire from the moment the puck was dropped. In the first period alone Watts created three high scoring chances including a one on one look against Gwyneth Philips who denied her.

On an older Canadian team Watts' speed really stood out and allowed her to help the team's north and south game.

    Hometown Hero Gets It Done

From Stellarton, Nova Scotia, Blayre Turnbull put on a show for her home crowd and all of her friends and family on Wednesday night.

In the first period the veteran showed some of her finesse. After taking the initial shot, she batted the puck out of the air creating another scoring chance.

After so many chances Turnbull finally found the back of the net in the third period when she would spun around and slid the puck through Philips' five-hole to score Canada’s lone goal of the game.

It was clear that the hometown crowd gave the local a jump in the contest and she rewarded them with a goal, sending the crowd into a ballistic state in the Scotiabank Centre.

Philips Puts Her Name On The Map

In a game where Canada dominated from start to finish, it was Gwyneth Philips that stole the game on her own.

The Ottawa Charge’s rookie goalie stood on her head, saving 32 of the 33 shots she faced, while also being perfect in the shootout.

She made multiple key saves including an impressive save against Laura Stacey in the splits in the dying seconds of overtime to force a shootout.

This was only the second time Philips has started for USA's senior national team and she definitely made her case to be on the USA’s roster for the upcoming World Championships as well a name for herself.
