Kirsten Simms has emerged as the top player to watch through two games of the Canada - USA Development Series.
If there's been one player through the first two games of the Canada - USA Summer Series who has looked national team ready, it's forward Kirsten Simms.
Simms scored 32 points in 41 games in her rookie NCAA season being named to the WCHA All-Rookie team.
Through her first two games with USA's Collegiate team, Simms has racked up three goals and five points. She had two goals and an assist in USA's game two 4-3 win over Canada on Thursday.
With the puck on her stick, Simms displayed her wizardry. Simms not only can turn on a time and skate heel-to-heel through the zone keeping herself open to making plays, but she uses her skating to evade checkers and maintain possession. As she carries the puck, Simms flashes quick and deceptive hands.
They're the same skills that wowed onlookers at the U-18 World Championships and through her first season with Wisconsin.
USA's roster has showed depth, including the line of Simms, Casey O'Brien and Joy Dunne who've demonstrated instant chemistry. USA has also seen strong performances up front from the likes of Elle Hartje and Elyssa Biederman.
USA's blueline has also been solid with Ally Simpson leading the way.
