South Korea has earned promotion from the IIHF Division IB women's World Championships.

South Korea earned promotion on home ice from the IIHF Division IB women's World Championship. Korea finished the tournament with four regulation wins and an overtime win to go undefeated.

They narrowly edged second place Poland and third place Italy. Kazakhstan failed to register a win in the tournament and will be relegated.

Korea's Jongah Park was named the tournament's top forward scoring six points in five games, tied for the team point lead with Heewon Kim and Soojin Han.

Slovenia's Pia Dukaric was the top goaltender at the World Championships for the third time in her career posting a 2.77 GAA and .950 save percentage. Dukaric is the reigning ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Year with Yale, and was a finalist for the NCAA Goaltender of the Year away.

Italy's Nadia Mattivi was named Top Defender at the tournament. The 22-year-old was already playing in her sixth World Championship representing Italy. She captained Boston University at the NCAA level last season and is eligible to return to Boston for a fifth season this year.

Korea will now move up to the Division IA World Championship, the IIHF's second highest tier of competition. The team joining Division IB via relegation will be decided later this summer at the IIHF Division IA championships in China.
