Switzerland has named their roster for the first stop on the Women's Euro Hockey Tour later this month in Kloten.
The Swiss Ice Hockey Federation has named their women's national team for the first stop on the Women's Euro Hockey Tour, set to take place from August 29-21 at SWISS Arena in Kloten.
"We are very happy that the EHT has also been launched for women and that we are part of this renowned ice hockey community," said Team Switzerland's head coach Colin Muller. "The WEHT is an important step in promoting women's ice hockey. The fact that we can now duel with the strongest nations four times a season will help our players enormously in their development process."
Leading the way for Switzerland at the opening tournament will be six members of EV Zug, who are set to play in the SWHL A this season for the first time. Lara Stalder will be the offensive leader up front, as Alina Muller is not scheduled to play in the opening tournament for her nation. Other members of EV Zug include young stars Ivana Wey and Naemi Herzig, as well as Noemi Ryhner, Lena Marie Lutz, Rahel Enzler, and Annic Büchi.
Switzerland will be backstopped by MoDo's Andrea Brändli yet again, who was one of the top goaltenders at the World Championships and in the SDHL last season and should be headed to the PWHL soon. Also in net for Switzerland will be Saskia Maurer (SC Bern), and Talina Benderer (Hockey Grischun Sud).
Joining Maurer from SC Bern are Lara Christen, Alizée Aymon, Alena Lynn Rossel, Emma Ingold, and Kaleigh Quennec.
HC Davos is the other Swiss club with significant representation at the opening Euro Hockey Tour stop with Alessia Baechler, Janine Hauser, Stefanie Wetli, and Leoni Balzer. The ZSC Lions have three players in Lisa Rüedi, Sinja Leemann, and Alina Marti.
Only one North American based player is competing for Switzerland in this stop of the tournament in the University of St. Thomas' Nicole Vallario.
The tournament will feature Switzerland, Finland, Sweden, and Czechia.
