Thailand's women's ice hockey team earned promotion to Division IIIA of the IIHF World Championships after winning the Division IIIB tournament this week in Kohtla-Järve, Estonia.
Thailand was dominant the entire week allowing only a single goal, outscoring their opponents 20-1.
Their tournament included 4-0 shutouts against Israel and Singapore, a 1-0 shutout over Estonia, and an 11-1 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Thailand netminder Thamida Kunthadapakorn, a 17-year-old who plays for the Bangkok Warriors, was spectacular for her team stopping all 39 shots she faced earning shutouts in both of her starts.
Thailand's roster is incredibly young featuring 14 teenagers including two players born in 2008, and four players born in 2007.
Thailand's Wirasinee Rattananai finished atop the tournament in points with six assists in four games. Four other players from Thailand were tied for second in the tournament with five points each including Apichaya Kosanunt, Nuchanat Ponglerkdee, Supitsara Thamma, and Thipwarintorn Yannakornthanapunt.
Thailand moves up to Group IIIA while Bulgaria, who finished last in Group IIIA earlier this month will be relegated to group IIIB.
