USA Hockey Names Collegiate and U-18 Select Teams

USA Hockey has named their 2023 Collegiate and U-18 Select rosters for the upcoming Summer Series against Canada.

USA Hockey has named their Collegiate and U-18 Select teams that will compete in three game series' against Canada this month.

The Collegiate roster features eight players who will suit up for Ohio State this season including Riley Brengman, Joy Dunne, Kelsey King, Olivia Mobley, Kiara Zanon, Emma Peschel, Amanda Thiele, and Makenna Webster. Sydney Morrow who played at Ohio State last year is one of three Colgate players who will be on the team. The team also includes three members of the national champion Wisconsin Badgers in Kirsten Simms, Casey O’Brien and Vivian Jungels.

“This is a talented group that we’re excited to compete with next week,” said Chelsea Walkland, head coach of USA Collegiate Women’s Select team. “We have a lot of dynamic collegiate players that we know will represent Team USA proudly.”

Among other notable USA Collegiate members are NCAA Goaltender of the Year Gwyneth Phillips from Northeastern and All-American Elle Hartje of Yale.

Of note, Wisconsin's Laila Edwards was omitted from the Collegiate Series roster, and was instead kept with USA's senior national team group. She was the lone college bound player without senior national team experience to stay with the top group. Riley Brengman had been skating with the senior national team group but was placed with the Collegiate team following camp.

USA's U-18 roster features six returnees from last year's silver medal winning roster including Kendra Distad, Rose Dwyer, Bella Fanale, Layla Hemp, Maggie Scannell, and Josie St. Martin.

“We’re excited for the team we’ve selected to face off against Canada next week,” Liz Keady Norton, U-18 Selects head coach said. “This is a big first step in building our team for this year and the competition next week are a great way to get game action under our belt.”

USA's roster also features three 2008 born players in Margaret Averill, Natalia Dilbone, and Mary Derrenbacher.
