
USA shutout Canada and Team World beat Great Britain to open the 2023 Para Ice Hockey Women's World Challenge.
USA opened their defence at the Para Ice Hockey Women’s World Challenge with a 3-0 shutout win over Canada.
Kelsey Lee Diclaudio opened the scoring shorthanded with 6:36 remaining in the first period, assisted by Catherine Faherty and Rachel Grusse. Lera Doederlein struck again only 19 seconds later to make it 2-0 for USA.
In the second period, USA continued to grow their lead as Faherty scored with Jamie Benassi assisting.
USA dominated throughout the game allowing Canada only two shots on goal in the game, while firing 25 of their own on net.
In the other game on day one of the Para Ice Hockey Women’s World Challenge, Team World beat Great Britain 5-1. After Stacey Quirk opened the scoring for Great Britain, it was all Team World for the remainder of the game. Norway's Lena Schroeder scored a pair of goals while Ailin Zheng and Caroline Persson each had a goal and an assist.
