Team USA's U-18 and Collegiate Select rosters bounced back after losing the first two games of their Summer Series' against Canada to earn wins in the game three finales.
After Canada won the opening two games of the U-18 Summer Series and College Select -- National Development Series, USA bounced back to win the finale in each.
USA's Collegiate Select team topped Canada 5-2 in their final game in British Columbua.
Captain Maggie Scannell forced a turnover early in the game sending the puck to Chloe Boreen who redirected it to give USA the lead.
Canada came back late in the frame as Caitlin Kraemer collected a puck deep in her own zone turning up ice and sending a laser stretch pass to Claire Murdoch up walked in a long and went backhand to beat an outstretched Ava McNaughton.
Cassie Hall beat Canada's Mari Pieterson in the second going top corner on the power play to regain USA's lead. Boreen added her second of the game and gave USA a two-goal advantage taking a back door pass on the power play before beating Pieterson up top.
Eloise Caron pulled Canada back into the game on another breakaway goal, but less than three minutes later, Laney Potter scored, yet again on the power play, before Kelly Gorbatenko ice the game with an empty netter.
McNaughton made 30 saves in the win, while Pieterson stopped 21.
USA Holds Off Canadian U-18 Comeback
USA opened their finale against Canada's U-18 team with three goals in a 10-minute span to open the game. Alexis Ulrich got it started with a point shot that Margart Chudzinski found the rebound for and put away.
Canada tied it on the power play with a goal from Demi Lazarou, but USA answered quickly with back-to-back goals from Annabelle Lovell and Frances Ames.
Adrianna Milani struck back for Canada, but USA continued to pour on in the first with Aubryn Monter scoring again on the power play.
The second period opened with a tighter checking battle. It lasted until the final five minutes of the frame when Amelia Sutch jammed home a rebound. Milani answered again for Canada finishing the series with five goals and nine points in three games to lead all scorers.
In the third, USA held off Canada's attacks including a late five-minute power play. In the dying seconds Avery Jones pulled Canada within a goal, but that's as close as they would get.
