Nancie Battaglia / USA Hockey - USA's Collegiate Team Overpowers Canada, Dunne Scores Twice

In a flipped script from the U-18 game earlier in the day, Team USA's Development team outplayed Canada taking a 4-1 win.

In net, NCAA goaltender of the year Gwyneth Philips made 17 saves in the win, while Eve Gascon, who will make her NCAA debut next year with Minnesota-Duluth stopped 27 of the 30 shots she faced.

The American line of Joy Dunne, Kirsten Simms, and Casey O'Brien drove USA's offense early with Dunne scoring a pair of goals. Dunne scored a pair of goals for Team USA despite being the only 2005 born player on the roster. She displayed power forward tendencies winning 50-50 pucks along the wall and wreaking havoc in front of the net.

On her line, Kirsten Simms showcased her edgework and puck possession skills, and also scored for the American's as a 2004 player. Simms and Dunne found instant chemistry with Casey O'Brien, a national champion with Wisconsin last season alongside Simms, scoring 48 points in 41 games for the Badgers.

Canada's young players showed promise with Jade Iginla and Jocelyn Amos threatening throughout the game. Amos, who captained Canada's U-18 last season had Canada's lone goal in the loss.

Canada and USA will play the second game of their three-game Collegiate/Development Series tomorrow.
