After finishing dead last in the NHL standings by a landslide, the Vancouver Canucks have continued their shuffle both on and off the ice. Their most recent announcement was the shift of assistant general manager Cammi Granato into a new role as senior amateur advisor.

“I am excited to have Cammi move to the position of Senior Amateur Advisor,” said general manager Ryan Johnson in a team statement. “Cammi is a quality person who knows a lot about the inner workings of our organization. She has built-in relationships and connections with our amateur staff that will help us continue to do good work in that area.”

“After taking some time to reflect on things, I feel this is the perfect time to transition into a new role with the Canucks,” said Granato. “I have had some very thoughtful and meaningful discussions with RJ and my family about my position within the organization. Helping on the amateur side is something I am extremely passionate about, and I am thrilled to continue working with our hockey operations department on that front. I have great confidence in our front office leadership group and love their vision and the direction they are taking with the team.”

Granato has spent the last five seasons as assistant general manager of the Vancouver Canucks after being hired to the position in February 2022. Prior to that Granato served as a professional scout with the NHL's Seattle Kraken.

The long-time Team USA captain and superstar on the ice, including helping USA upset Canada for gold at the inaugural 1998 Olympics, leaves the Canucks without much front office depth when it comes to pro scouting.

Ryan Johnson was promoted from his role as assistant general manager to the role of GM having guided the Canucks farm team in Abbotsford prior to the promotion.

Earlier this offseason, Granato's former adversary on the ice, Hayley Wickenheiser, parted ways with the Toronto Maple Leafs following her own tenure as an assistant general manager with the team.
