Canada and USA's women's para ice hockey national teams will face off for a three-game Frontier Series in Ottawa this month, and event that is free to the public.

Canada and USA will face-off in a three game women's para ice hockey series this month in Ottawa, Ontario.

The match up, dubbed the Frontier Series, will pit the two top national team programs in the world against one another.

The two teams will drop the puck on April 10, 11, and 12 at Richcraft Sensplex in Ottawa. Admission to the games, which take place at 5:30pm on the 10th and 11th, and 9:30am on the 12th, is free.

The series comes only months after Slovakia hosted the inaugural women's World Para Ice Hockey Championships. USA beat Canada 7-1 in the gold medal game to claim the inaugural title. The tournament also featured Norway, Great Britain, Australia, and a Team World.

Women's para ice hockey was not part of the recent Paralympics in Italy, although organizers are hoping the sport can make it to the 2030 Paralympic Games.

Canada and USA have taken the lead in driving that push globally.

The sport needs to add additional nations in time for the second World Championship tournament in order to pursue the goal of the 2030 Paralympics.
