Canada's 2024 women's para hockey team national selection camp is underway this week in Thorold, Ontario at the Canada Games Park.
The camp includes 26 women from six provinces across Canada including 18 members of Canada's 2023 IPC Women’s Para Ice Hockey World Challenge silver medal winning team.
“Each year our selection camp gets more and more competitive which makes our job tough as coaches but in the best way possible,” said assistant coach and former Canadian National Para Hockey player, Derek Whitson.
Whitson will be joined by head coach Tara Chisholm who enters her 11th season as head coach. Shawn Lucas will also serve as an assistant coach while Tim Whitson is the team's goaltending coach.
Also in the lineup for the national team selection camp are a trio of bronze medalists from the 2023 World Challenge. Four rookies are also vying for roster spots.
The first game begins at 5:00 PM EST on Friday, January 5, while the second scrimmage is set for 7:30 PM EST on Saturday, January 6.
