Celly League is a Minnesota women's hockey summer league for NCAA, Pro, and elite high school players.
A new women's summer league known as Celly League opened their inaugural season Tuesday night in Bloomington, Minnesota with a pair of games.
Team BrainJuice opened the evening with a 4-1 win over Team Traditional Mortgage.
Paetyn Levis of Team BrainJuice opened the scoring notching the first goal in league history just under two minutes into game one. Levis signed this offseason with the PHF's Minnesota Whitecaps after scoring 40 points in 41 NCAA games with Ohio State, who she helped to a national title in 2021-2022. Ava Lindsay, who will play her rookie season at the University of Minnesota next year scored next for BrainJuice. Lindsay is a two-time member of Team USA's U-18 World Championship roster, and captained Minnetonka High. Another former USA U-18 member and current University of Minnesota standout Audrey Wethington put Team BrainJuice up 3-0 before Traditional Mortgage finally got on the board with a goal from Lauren Zawoyski who will play for Minnesota State next season. Another soon to be NCAA rookie Cara Sajevic who is headed to the University of St. Thomas next year capped the game one scoring sliding home an empty netter for BrainJuice.
Game two of opening night was a lopsided affair as Team Ace Hardware beat Team Lake Cowgirl 7-1.
University of Minnesota forward Madison Kaiser had two goals and an assist for Ace Hardware, followed by Minnesota Whitecaps forward Liz Schepers scoring a goal and an assist. Also scoring for Team Ace Hardware were Brittyn Fleming (Minnesota Whitecaps), Maggie Nicholson (University of Minnesota), and Ella Knewtson (Holy Family Catholic / Long Island University commit). Penn State's kKatelyn Roberts broke the shutout with only seven seconds to go getting Team Lake Cowgirl on the board.
The Celly League returns to action Thursday evening.
