On the final day of the 2025 Esso Cup round robin, the top two teams  in the tournament's early stages will square off. The Edmonton Jr. Oilers remained undefeated through four games, while the North York Storm sit only three points back, one regulation win, of the Oilers with the two teams slated to play on the final day.

Here's a look at the day four action from the 2025 Esso Cup.

    Oilers shutout Eastern Stars

Ella Dunham-Fox record the first shutout of the Esso Cup stopping all 15 shots she faced. At the other end of the ice, it was a busy night for Olivia Lowe in the Stars' crease as she faced 47 shots in return.

Edmonton got scoring in the game from Madison Stark and Daniella Martorana who recorded the only goals in the game.

“That was a great game today, very physical," said Oilers head coach Joel Lenius. "They challenged us physically, but we were prepared for it. They played a good game, their goalie was awesome, kudos to that. Lots of intensity and one of our most physical games here for sure."

Van Sickle helps North York storm's back in overtime

With 39 seconds remaining, it looked like the North York Storm were set to lose their second game of the tournament. One second later, Olivia Van Sickle put the game on her stick and tied the game. Minutes later in overtime, Van Sickle did it again giving the North York Storm a 3-2 win over Étoiles de Laurentides-Lanaudière

Maika Gauthier continued her strong tournament for Étoiles de Laurentides-Lanaudière scoring both of their goals. She has six goals in four games.

"It was a battle out there tonight," said North York coach George Trifon. "The first period was obviously not what we wanted coming out of this game, but we challenged the girls at the intermission, and they came out on fire in the second. I thought we had the momentum then—the third period was ours and in overtime, our goalie made a couple of great stops. It came down to the last seconds and we came out with the victory. In overtime, we wanted to maintain some speed, so we tried to put out some players who we thought had a little more jump today. I am glad we worked on some 3-on-3 before we came down here in case we needed to. It worked out at the end; we came away with the points and that’s all that matters.’"

    Hosts Finally Get A Win

In the final game of the day, the host Lloydminster Steelers finally got in the win column beating the Saskatoon Stars in overtime.

Ayla Anderson, Sadie Green, and Claire Moorman gave the Saskatoon Stars a 3-0 lead in the first period, but the Steelers did not quit.

Sadee Reinders got one back for the Steelers before the first period was out. In the second, Raevyn Neahr continued to chip away getting another on the power play. With only 2:57 to go in the game, Jamie Hensch sent the Steelers bench into a frenzy tying the game, before Skylar Heinrichs completed the comeback in overtime.

"It was very gratifying to win in front of our crowd tonight," said Steelers head coach Dan Auchenberg. "We were on our heels to start the game for sure. After that, we needed to control our emotions, chip away, stop the bleeding and get one at the time. We kept pushing and pushing, but Saskatoon brought their A-game tonight, they had some very good scoring chances later in the game. Harlee Houle made some good saves. We pushed a little harder and we were able to capitalize on our chances. The more we got closer, the more we believed. The fans were amazing, it was electric. I love the support from our fans.”
