Madison Packer is the captain of the PHF's Metropolitan Riveters. A founding member of the league, Packer is one of the all-time leading scorers and top players in PHF history. Here are her responses to The Hockey News' Five Questions.

What new player in the PHF were you most excited to compete against?

    Alina Muller

Who is your favourite non-PHF professional sports team and athlete?

Favorite team- Connecticut Sun --- favorite athlete Serena Williams

If professional women's hockey could expand to one new city next year, where would you put a new team?

    Detroit

What is one thing you're passionate about off the ice?

I'm passionate about advocating for mental health awareness and resources both in athletics and our communities. It is something I have been super passionate about for a long time. The lack of resources and honest conversation surrounding the mental health crisis and opioid epidemic in our country is alarming. We have failed to recognize as a society that just talking about it is not enough. People need resources and they need access to treatment the same way you do when you are struggling with any other illness. Mental illness and addiction are diseases, and people with those diseases need treatment. We just need more attention surrounding the lack of resources being provided to people who desperately need help.

Aside from training, what keeps you busy in the offseason?

I have two little kiddos who keep us pretty active. When I'm not at the rink or the gym you can usually find me doing something adventurous with my two side kicks.
