Offseason is always when women's and men's hockey players tie the knot. This offseason, it seems the women's hockey world was busy saying "I do."

For years, the NHL and their franchises have celebrated wedding and engagement season. While the top men’s league in the world certainly had some news, including the marriage of an NHL player to a PWHPA player, women’s hockey had a plethora of weddings and engagements this offseason as well.

The engagement of Marie-Philip Poulin and Laura Stacey nearly broke the internet this offseason as two of the best players in the world said yes to each other, but they weren’t the only powerful hockey couple to merge this offseason.

PWHPA and Team Canada members Geneviève Lacasse and Emerance Maschmeyer tied the knot this summer. Both have backstopped Canada in the past, each winning World Championship and Olympic gold medals. Lacasse helped Team Harvey's win the Secret Cup this year while Maschmeyer played for Team Scotiabank. Their wedding was an event attended by many of the world's top players from both the PWHPA and Canadian national team.

More recently, another pair of former national team members, albeit from different nations were also married. Former Finnish national team member Venla Hovi, who coached the PHF's Metropolitan Riveters this season and American Olympic and World Championship gold medalist Amanda Pelkey got hitched.

The NHL and PWHPA wedding this offseason featured Sophia Shaver and Luke Kunin. Both played their NCAA hockey for the University of Wisconsin. Shaver then joined the PWHPA where she won a Secret Cup with Team Harvey's last season. Kunin is entering his seventh season in the NHL. He's returning to the San Jose Sharks again this year.

Finally, former Canadian national team member and World Championship gold medalist Sarah Potomak also got engaged this summer. The University of Minnesota alumni spent the past three seasons in the PWHPA, this year playing for Team Adidas. Potomak got engaged to USports hockey player Josh Bruce who played for Trinity Western this season where he was a teammate of Potomak's brother Brandon, and the same school where Potomak's sister Amy played at in 2022-2023.
