Three members of the Kenya Ice Lionesses are headed to Canada this month following a sponsorship from Black Girl Hockey Club Canada.

Hanan Ali, Carol Joseph, and Chumbana Likiza will attend a hockey camp in Toronto from July 8-17 while looking to gain skills and coaching capacity to bring home to Kenya's women's ice hockey team.

Each of the participants hails from Nairobi, Kenya.

Joseph called the trip a "dream come true" as she looks to bring back knowledge to help her grow the game in Kenya.

Likiza is a prominent roller skater in Kenya and participates in Rollball and KhoKho. According to a press release, Likiza "loves ice hockey because of its focus on teamwork and its ability to teach children to work together, communicate, and support each other."

Ali is the captain of the Frozen Flames, an ice hockey team in Kenya.

Ice hockey in Kenya first started in 2006 when a group of Canadians donated equipment to help the nation's Kenya Ice Lions get started.

This summer St. Lawrence University's women's hockey team visited Kenya through the Sticks Together charity.
