Kori Cheverie will join the NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins for the 2023-2024 season after being named a guest coach by President of Hockey Operations Kyle Dubas.

Cheverie's duties will include coaching at development camp, training camp and periodically throughout the season as part of the National Hockey League Coaches' Association Guest Coach Program.

Last season, Cheverie, 36, was an associate head coach with the PWHPA's Team Harvey's helping to guide Harvey's to a Secret Cup title.

Cheverie, 36, was an assistant coach with Canada's national women's team, winning gold at the 2022 Olympics and gold at the 2021 and 2022 World Championships, as well as silver this year at the World Championships in Brampton, Ontario.

Cheverie continues to break down barriers after being the first woman to serve as a coach in Canada's men's national team program acting as an assistant coach for Canada's U-18 men's national team program in 2022. She broke a similar barrier at the USports level as the first woman to be named a full-time assistant coach at the Canadian university ranks coaching with Ryerson University, now Toronto Metropolitan University, from 2016-2021.

This is not the first time Cheverie has served with an NHL team after working at the Arizona Coyotes 2022 Development Camp.
