There was plenty of action in day two of the U-18 Canadian national championships including a pair of overtime thrillers.

DAWSON CREEK, BC - Two of the tournament's top teams needed overtime on the second day of Canada's national U-18 championships.

After falling behind 3-0 at the hands of Team Saskatchewan, Quebec scored three unanswered goals in the final 25 minutes of play to tie the game up at 3-3. Young players Loélie Lachapelle and Rosalie Tremblay led that charge allowing Laurence Lafleur to end things in overtime.

Saskatchewan got goals from Sage Babey, Berlin Lolacher, and Peyton Gabruck in the loss.

    Ontario Red Bests Ontario Blue

Earlier in the day, Emma Venusio blasted a one timer from the point to end a deadlock with Ontario Blue giving her Ontario Red team a 3-2 win. On a powerplay in overtime, Venusio took a pass from Caitlin Kraemer and wired home a slapshot top shelf to earn the extra point.

Rylan Haslam and Riley Sorokan scored Ontario Blue's goals, while Claire Murdoch and Abby Stonehouse scored for Ontario Red. The game showed the parity among Ontario's top players as Ontario Red is a roster stockpiled with Canadian national team members.

    Atlantic Suffers An Identical Fate

After suffering a 6-3 loss to Saskatchewan to open their tournament, Team Atlantic suffered an identical fate, falling 6-3 to Team Alberta in their second game of the U-18 national championships.

Leah Wicks got Team Atlantic on the board first, but they were unable to maintain the momentum. Alberta received goals from six different scorers in the game, including Rylee Grant, Makayla Watson, and Keira Grant who all had a goal and an assist in the win.

Jessica MacKinnon and Ava Wood who have both been strong for Team Atlantic also scored.

    BC Stays Undefeated Downing Manitoba

Crossing the midway point of the game tied 2-2, British Columbia had their scoring capped off by standouts Morgan Jackson and Chloe Primerano to take the 4-2 win.

Sara Manness, who has been Manitoba's top threat through two games, scored her second goal and fourth point of the tournament.
