Amanda Kessel has been hired by the Pittsburgh Penguins as the special assistant to president of hockey operations and general manager.

Women's hockey star Amanda Kessel, who participated in the Pittsburgh Penguins Executive Management Program last season, has been hired on for a new role with the NHL club.
Kessel will now serve as the special assistant to president of hockey operations and general manager.
The relationship between Amanda Kessel and the Penguins organization began when she was playing in the NWHL and with Team USA. David Morehouse, who at the time was the president and chief executive officer of the Pittsburgh Penguins asked Kessel, who at the time was not interested in an off-ice role, “when are you going to work for me?”
When the two reconnected in March of 2022 however, Kessel, then a member of the PWHPA was ready for a change.
“We had the same conversation again, and this time when he asked me, my response was ‘now,’” Kessel told The Hockey News.
"Amanda has the experience, drive, and education to be a fantastic front-office executive in professional sports, and we are honored to welcome her to Pittsburgh," said Morehouse when the Penguins hired Kessel. In fact, the hire was one of Morehouse’s final moves with the organization, as he stepped down a week later saying he was confident the future of the organization was in good hands.
That future now looks to include his final hire, Amanda Kessel.
