Avery Supryka is a powerful defender, who can take charge on the ice. It's the calling card of the five-foot-nine blueliner who will again suit up for the OWHL U22 Elite's Ottawa Senators.

Supryka, a 2006 born player, is committed to play for Boston University in 2024-2025.

According to Senators general manager Dana Mulvihill, Supryka plays a crucial role for her Ottawa team both on the ice and as a leader off the ice.

"One of our leaders, definitely a mature player," said Mulvihill. "Her skills are unreal and she's physically dominant on the ice, she's not afraid to get things dirty."

Last season Supryka had 13 points in 25 games for the Senators, including eight goals. Her role as a physical competitor is a large portion of her success, but as Mulvihill says, it's her offensive awareness from the blueline, including in anchoring Ottawa's powerplay, that help set Supryka apart.

"On the powerplay is where her skillset really shines through," he said. "She's got a great shot and finds a way to get it through."

When Supryka arrives at Boston University, she'll be under the tutelage of one of the world's best blueliners as former Canadian national team member and Olympic gold medalist Tara Watchorn was recently named head coach of the Boston University Terriers.
