Dorothy Copetti was the youngest player on her OWHL U22 Durham West Lightning, but her skill and physical play set her apart.

Dorothy Copetti stepped into the OWHL U22 Elite league this season with the Durham West Lightning and made an immediate impact. The 2007 prospect played on a roster filled with elite NCAA commits including Alex Law, Piper Grober, and Madeline Palumbo. In total, 14 members of the Lightning are committed to NCAA Division I programs, and another three are headed to USports programs.
Copetti was the only 2007 born skater on the roster showcasing a strong shot that she utilizes alongside a quick release and striking accuracy. With the puck, Copetti is a constant offensive threat with natural goal scoring instincts.
With a gifted toolkit, Durham West Lightning coach Dave Gwyn believes it's Copetti's on-ice intelligence that helps her put her physical skills together.
"Dorothy possesses an exceptional hockey IQ, which allows her to read the game and anticipate plays well ahead of her opponents," said Gwyn. "Her decision-making skills and ability to adapt to changing game situations make her a valuable asset on the ice."
In 43 games this season, the Toronto product totalled 19 goals and 38 points as a rookie in the league.
As a younger player, the right shot forward is not afraid to engage physically.
"With her strong physical presence, Dorothy is able to effectively protect the puck and maintain possession in high-pressure situations," said Gwyn. "Her aggressive play and willingness to engage in battles for the puck make her a formidable opponent."
"Her outstanding character and leadership qualities set her apart as a promising prospect for future success in the sport.”
As a group of Durham West Lightning forwards step into college hockey next season, Copetti's role will only continue to grow, and she'll have a list of school's recruiting her talents this summer.
