Durham West Lightning goaltender Madison Campbell, 2007, has emerged as one of the top women's hockey netminding prospects in Ontario.

Madison Campbell has emerged as one of the top young goaltenders in the OWHL U22 Elite playing with the Durham West Lightning.
The 2007 born prospect finished the season with a 14-2-2 record posting a 1.52 GAA and .934 save percentage. Strong mentally and athleticism have helped her emerge as a top prospect.
"Madison's athleticism is evident in her agility, flexibility, and quick reflexes," Durham West head coach Dave Gwyn said. "These attributes allow her to cover a significant portion of the net and make challenging saves that frustrate opposing shooters."
Campbell's performance caught attention this season sitting among league leaders in all statistical categories despite being one of the youngest netminders to play in the OWHL U22 this season. Among goaltenders with similar statistics were Etobicoke's Hannah Clarke (2006) and Mari Pieterson (2004), who both played for Canada's U-18 national team, and Taya Currie of the Bluewater Hawks, who was selected by the Sarnia Sting in the 2021 OHL Draft.
"Madison's quickness is one of her most notable strengths, enabling her to react swiftly to shots and make split-second decisions. Her ability to move laterally and track the puck across the crease is crucial in maintaining a solid presence between the pipes," said Gwyn of his netminder.
He also boasted of Campbell's puck handling skills aiding defenders, her confidence in net, and her qualities as a positive teammate. One quality he believes should not be overlooked about Campbell is her big moment and big game performances.
"When the stakes are high, Madison has the ability to make crucial saves that can change the momentum of a game," said Gwyn. "Her ability to rise to the occasion in high-pressure situations showcases her mental fortitude and resilience."
Playing OHWL U22 Elite hockey, Campbell is already on the radar of NCAA programs, and will be a goaltender many programs contact as this summer's recruitment period opens.
